Lions Club host senior citizens

For over 30 years the Lions Club have provided, once or twice a year the opportunity for its members to act as hosts to Senior Citizens by providing a meal and get-together of over 70 living alone senior citizen, By courtesy of Parody Buses they were picked up and driven to the Jumpers Wheel Restauarant who provided a lovely meal and superb service for which we thank them. We started in the early part of the afternoon (i.e. 1.00 pm) and finished up after five, at which point our guests were taken back home. During the meal a free raffle was held. (32 Gibraltar Government Lottery ticket as prizes given away amongest the 78 guests present. Guests and Lions had a very enjoyable time

Other Lions Projects

• 1. Help to Senior Citizens and under-privileged Members - in the Community

In the past, the Lions Club of Giraltar has been involved with the redecoration of senior citizens homes, the provision of food hampers at christmas, and the installation of refrigerators and water heaters.

In addition to this the Lions Club of Gibraltar organises an annual outing and party for senior citizens of Gibraltar. This has in the past involved trips to Los arrios, but more recently the outings remain in Gibraltar due to the lack of a Lions Doctor to attend this function. If you are a registered medical doctor and would like to assist us in this for future events, please contact us.

• 2. Aid to Mt. Alvernia Senior Citizens Home

The Lions Club of Gibraltar has assisted with the provision of wheelchairs, an ambulift, a hotplate and heated trolleys for the kitchen, installation of an emergency lighting system, and general maintenance work in their garden such as clearing old plants in order to enhance their environment.
